Pointers from the online gathering on Sunday 5th October.
We spent time in worship and waiting on the Lord before consecrating the Community for our forthcoming 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting.
There were a number of pictures and words about ‘gates’ and ‘steps’ given during the gathering. We were left with a question: Is the Lord directing us to consider how to ‘clear the steps’ leading to ‘the gate’ to open the way for His return? This is figurative language, which we will hold before the Lord during our forthcoming time of prayer. We need to be ‘in step’ with Jesus in order to exercise His governance. He is the Head, we are the Body.
Other themes included the need for us to maintain a focus on the horizon, the meeting place between heaven and earth. We were reminded of a previous image of a ladder connecting heaven and earth, similar to that in Jacob’s dream, but this one was empty ie. no angels. We are being invited to climb the ladder and to realise more fully that, in Christ, we are the connection between heaven and earth. This needs to be accompanied by an awareness of the reality of this in our everyday thinking.
There was an overriding sense that the Lord is urging us to get ready, which includes clearing obstacles and being clean.
Question: Are we willing to give to the Lord 40 days in prayer and fasting for the unity, renewal and healing of the Church in the UK and Ireland?
