What is Life Prayer?
Life Prayer is a great gift from God. As we listen to His prompting we are able to bring an entire life into His light to receive His healing. Life Prayer is a prayer of thanksgiving in which we thank God for a person and their life with all its many facets. It is not a technique or therapy, neither does it focus on any specific problem or need for healing.
Is Life Prayer consistent with Biblical teaching?
This simple form of prayer is rooted in Psalm 139 which affirms, “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me... you are familiar with all my ways... For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb...” God is able to touch and heal us from things that have happened in our early life because, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Heb 13.8)
Who is Life Prayer for?
This prayer is a time of great healing for all who experience it. We pray Life Prayer for anyone who asks, whatever their level of faith. The only requirement is their acceptance that all our praying is through Jesus.
How is Life Prayer different?
Life Prayer does not start from a particular point of need. It is not a prayer that is used in response to a specific problem. It is a prayer for everyone - it is a presenting of one's life to God, allowing Him to have His way. As our lives are bound by time, Life Prayer starts by thanking God for a person's inheritance and proceeds with the offering of conception, development in the womb, birth, infancy, childhood, adolescence and adulthood to the Lord. It depends entirely on listening to God for direction as He teaches us how to pray.
How to arrange Life Prayer
There are Maranatha members trained in Life Prayer ministry in different parts of the country. Requests for this ministry are prayed over by a small team who decide when and where the ministry will take place. Further information is available from the Maranatha office.
Life Prayer 'at a distance'
Where it is not possible for someone to have Life Prayer ministry for reasons of distance or an inability to receive prayer personally, experienced teams will pray for that person using the pattern of Life Prayer. This ministry does not require information about the person concerned. It is solely dependent upon listening to God.
