Maranatha - Praying

Contemplative & Quiet Days

A listening community

We are a listening community and spend much time in silent waiting upon God. For us, listening and hearing from God always comes before acting.

Stop

“Be still and know that I am God” (Ps 46:10)

We live in a frenetic world, surrounded by noise and activity. We often rarely pause, let alone stop, to take a breath and be still. Yet when we do God will speak. He waits yearning to talk with us, if we would only listen.

Anyone can hear God

We believe that anyone who truly seeks to encounter God can hear Him speak into their lives. In the silence people have discovered the very real dynamic of God speaking to us, the power of realising they too can hear God.

Quiet Days

Quiet days are an opportunity to have a 'taster' experience of the enriching discipline of hearing God in the silence. They are an introduction to stillness; to being, not doing. Led by a member of the Community they can be held anywhere - contact the office to request a quiet day.

Contemplative Days

These days are one way in which we practise the discipline of stillness.

Held regularly throughout the Community they are an important and developing aspect of our Community life. A time to join and listen together, to be encouraged when we hear God as one.

These are held on the first Saturday in the months of March, May, July, September, & November, at:
Presentation Sisters, 41 Ashbrow Rd, Huddersfield HD2 1DX. (Get directions)

Words on Comtemplative Prayer...

“If we really want to pray we must first learn to listen, for in the silence of the heart God speaks.”
